Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Main Role (Overall Accountability)
Head of IT Infrastructure is primarily responsible for devising the strategies, business plans, policies and processes for building, expanding, sustaining, and maintaining the IT infrastructure, including all systems, servers, storage and networks to provide services to the Bank s internal and external customers. Furthermore, the role entails planning, directing and designing the Bank s IT infrastructure while simultaneously managing the IT team responsible for maintaining that infrastructure to ensure 100% up time of the Bank s service delivery systems.
This includes the following areas of expertise:
1. Large Organization Infrastructure design and architecture
2. Servers (H/W, O/S and Software) with deferent flavors (Windows, LINUX, etc.)
3. Virtual Environments
4. Advanced Network
5. Enterprise Storage Systems
6. Data Center Management
7. Security Architecture and Security Infrastructure Components
8. Databases
9. Management of multi-function infrastructure teams
10. Management of infrastructure projects
11. Prepare plans and documents related to data center expansion or additions and evaluate the best practices for design and maintenance
12. Ensure that future expansions include the industry s standards and compliance
13. Prepare and manage the budgets for the department and undertake ownership for the Bank s IT licenses to ensure their optimum utilization
14. Set standards and monitor all equipment for security threats
15. Proactively work with IT Management, HR to attract, engage, develop and retain a highly performing team and develop sound second line of IT infrastructure professionals
16. Must be familiar with technologies from vendors such as Microsoft, RedHat, Oracle, VMware, Cisco, Citrix, HP etc. This role also manages support & operations teams to ensure top-notch service is delivered to end users.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for all facets of the organization s technology infrastructure, including capacity planning, administration, operational management, and troubleshooting to ensure the efficient, stable, reliable and secure operations of the organization s technology.
Infrastructure
Extreme oversight of incidents, problem tickets and change controls in a fast-paced and complex data center environment to reduce risk and utilize safe times for repair and change.
Responsible for all data center related hardware installation, configuration, troubleshooting (Intel/Linux/Unix/Network/Storage), upgrades (firmware), and optimization.
Must have experience with Intel based / Blade & Rack Server Hardware support
Vulnerability & Patch Management for Technology Infrastructure components
Responsible for all data center activities - the installation of all customer computer equipment (racks, servers, data switches, data cabling, and power).
Plan, document, manage and evaluate performance of staff. Provide for technical and professional growth through assignments, mentoring, and technical training.
Responsibilities
Operate the data center program to achieve 100% uptime and customer service level agreement (SLA) compliance.
Ensure the facility complies with governmental regulations, and manage the interacts with regulators and auditors, as needed.
Manage the development, implementation and administration of operational processes, programs and systems.
Provide innovative IT solutions to increase productivity and work flow.
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for integrating and managing the Bank s information technology services and those supporting new enterprise-wide initiatives
Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, storage, backup and restore, operating systems, network and databases.
Manage servers, network infrastructure and develop plans, projects, policies and procedures to deliver consistent and scalable services.
Develops and maintains disaster recovery and business continuity.
Set short-term priorities, manage work product of all direct reports and consulting partners.
Ensure infrastructure meets current and future contractual commitments
Support
Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to BankMuscat staff
Work with partners to develop strategies and plans to enhance end user effectiveness
Supports and coordinates with the ongoing support, maintenance, upgrades or enhancements of the installed application base
Management & Administration
Owns all infrastructure support functions and projects and is responsible for ensuring the team is structured and able to meet service agreements.
Select and manage 3rd party service providers, contractors and consultants for designated services or projects
Negotiate and closely monitor and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements
Manage IT staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, discipline and discharge.
Conduct performance appraisals, performance improvement procedures, and other personnel activities for assigned staff.
Lead by example through appropriate participation, technical guidance and involvement in, and oversight of projects and activities assigned to the team
Provide expertise and support during systems upgrades, installations, and conversions
Provide input and direction on account policies and procedures.
Keep current systems with the latest technologies and determine which new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements
Maintain an accurate, detailed and up to date Server & Network hardware and software inventory.
Desired Candidate Profile
15+ years related professional experience in large scale complex Technology infrastructure, preferably a Bank/Financial institution
7+ years of IT senior management experience in Technology Infrastructure is a must have
Extensive hands-on experience with technologies from Microsoft, RedHat, Oracle, VMware, Cisco, Load Balancers, Citrix, HP, SAN Storage, Backup, Virtualization, Infrastructure containerization or comparable technologies
Relevant Technology infrastructure certifications is a must have
Hands-on experience in Vulnerability & Patch Management for Technology Infrastructure components
Strong project management, organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of technical staff, to work with the management and staff to manage multiple concurrent projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products and identify new products and vendors
Ability to meet deadlines, to use sound judgment, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skills
Familiarity with ITIL and other IT Service Management best practice frameworks
Knowledge and experience of IT governance
