Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a whole-school inclusion strategy, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision and values, promoting an inclusive ethos for all stakeholders.
- Lead and manage the Special Educational Needs (SEN) department, overseeing the identification, assessment, and support for students with diverse learning needs, including the effective allocation of resources.
- Oversee the creation and regular review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support plans, ensuring they are individualized, measurable, and regularly updated to reflect student progress and evolving needs.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to teachers, support staff, and parents on inclusive teaching practices, strategies, and interventions to maximize student success.
- Liaise with external agencies, such as educational psychologists, therapists, and healthcare professionals, to coordinate support services and advocate for students' needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision, using data to inform decision-making and continuously improve the quality of support offered to students.
- Manage the SEN budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and transparently to meet the needs of students with SEN.
- Promote a culture of collaboration and partnership with parents, involving them in their child's education and providing opportunities for them to share their insights and concerns.
- Ensure the school complies with all relevant legislation and policies related to SEN and inclusion, staying up-to-date with current best practices.
- Provide professional development and training for staff on inclusive practices, SEN, and differentiated instruction to build capacity and expertise within the school.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or a related field; a Master's degree is highly desirable.
- Demonstrate extensive experience working in an inclusive educational setting, ideally with experience in a leadership or management role.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including experience in a leadership position.
- Have no nationality preference, emphasizing a commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.
- Be proficient in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Possess strong technical skills, including proficiency in using data analysis tools to monitor student progress and manage SEN records.
