Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Construction & Workshop Fabrication Planning:
    • Develop, manage, and implement detailed construction plans and schedules in alignment with the overall project timeline, including workshop-based fabrication activities.
    • Coordinate with the Project Manager, engineering, procurement, and workshop teams to ensure the timely availability and delivery of fabricated materials and components to the site.
    • Monitor and align workshop output with on-site construction requirements, ensuring synchronization between fabrication progress and construction sequencing.
    • Plan and allocate resources efficiently to meet both fabrication and construction objectives, proactively addressing any delays or constraints.
    • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all fabrication activities, from the reception of materials to final dispatch, ensuring smooth workflow and quality compliance. Candidates with prior fabrication-related experience and a proven track record of seamless coordination across these stages will be given preference.
  2. Team Leadership & Supervision:
    • Lead and supervise the construction team, including contractors, subcontractors, and workshop Supervisors, Engineer & Managers, to ensure that all construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
    • Monitor team performance, provide guidance, and address any performance issues or conflicts.
    • Conduct regular team meetings and provide updates to the Project Manager and other stakeholders on project progress.
  3. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management:
    • Ensure the construction site adheres to all safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
    • Enforce safety protocols and monitor the construction site to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
    • Lead by example in promoting a safety-first culture, conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with HSE regulations.
    • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents on-site, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  4. Quality Assurance & Control:
    • Oversee and ensure that construction activities are executed according to the required quality standards, engineering specifications, and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct inspections and audits to verify the quality of construction work and materials.
    • Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality concerns and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  5. Budget & Cost Management:
    • Monitor and control construction and fabrication costs and expenditures, ensuring that the project is completed within the approved budget.
    • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and additional expenses related to construction activities.
    • Implement cost-control measures and proactively address any financial issues that could impact the budget or timeline.
  6. Schedule Management:
    • Develop and maintain a detailed construction schedule and off-site fabrication timelines ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and according to the project plan.
    • Monitor the progress of construction and fabrication activities and identify any potential delays, implementing corrective actions when necessary to maintain schedule integrity.
    • Provide regular updates to Project Management and stakeholders on construction milestones and timelines.
  7. Project & Operations Coordination
    • Collaborate with the Project Manager in overall project execution strategy, including planning reviews, resource planning, and execution optimization.
    • Participate in operations planning and manpower forecasting for both site and workshop execution.
    • Ensure alignment of construction and fabrication operations with project milestones and client expectations.
  8. Contractor & Vendor Management:
    • Manage and oversee subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that all work meets quality standards, is completed on time, and adheres to safety protocols.
    • Review and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring all terms are met and projects stay on track.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, addressing any issues related to performance, deliverables, or timelines.
  9. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
    • Proactively identify potential issues or challenges during the construction phase and work to resolve them quickly.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

• Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, NEBOSH) is a plus.

• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in construction management, with at least 10 years in the Oil & Gas sector, particularly in EPC projects.

• Strong knowledge of construction processes, including planning, execution and quality control.

• In-depth understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the Oil & Gas industry.

• Proven experience in managing budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large, diverse teams.

• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, P6, MS Project).
