Role Requirements
Skills & Competencies:
• Proven leadership and team management skills in guard force operations, including tasking, supervision, and performance oversight.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give clear instructions and report incidents accurately.
• Excellent situational awareness and decision-making in response to evolving security incidents and base emergencies.
• Experienced in enforcing access control, conducting personnel and vehicle searches, and managing entry/exit procedures.
• Skilled in coordinating static and mobile guard posts, perimeter patrols, and quick reaction force (QRF) deployment.
• Competent in the use of radio communications, logbooks, incident reports, and post orders.
• Ability to work under pressure in high-threat or austere environments with minimal supervision.
• High level of attention to detail and discipline in maintaining security protocols and reporting standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with guard management or incident logging software.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); ability to interact with local national guards or staff effectively.
Essential Requirements :
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in security or supervisory disciplines preferred.
• Minimum of 3 5 years experience in a supervisory security role (e.g., guard force leader, military police NCO, or control room supervisor).
• Demonstrated experience in managing or leading teams of security guards in military, diplomatic, or secure compound settings.
• Familiarity with base-level security operations, including restricted area access, perimeter control, and emergency response.
• Experience using CCTV systems, access control points, radios, and patrol coordination tools.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g. HABC Level 3 in Security Operations, Control Room Supervisor training).
• Valid UK Category C or C1 Driver s License (for operation of B6 armoured vehicles) or equivalent international license.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check within the past six (6) months.
Desirable:
• Previous experience working on a military airbase or within a military or diplomatic mission security framework.
• Familiarity with Iraqi operational environment, including cultural awareness and regional security dynamics.
• Experience working with integrated guard forces (expat, TCN, and local national teams).
• Training in hostile environment awareness, emergency response, or crisis management (e.g., HEAT, HEFAT).
• Experience with drone/UAS detection systems, guard tour tracking tools, or advanced surveillance technologies.
• Arabic language skills (spoken) considered an asset when working with local guard personnel.
Services
Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the provision of frontline supervisory leadership and operational oversight of guard force personnel deployed across Balad, Iraq. The Guard Force Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all static and mobile security posts are manned, compliant with site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and aligned with mission security requirements. This role is critical to maintaining base access control, perimeter integrity, and rapid response capability in the event of an incident. Services the contractor can expect to carry out, but are not limited to, are as follows:
• Supervise daily operations of the guard force, including shift coverage, post assignments, and performance monitoring of local and international security personnel.
• Ensure guard force compliance with access control procedures, including personnel and vehicle searches, badge checks, restricted area entry, and visitor processing.
• Coordinate the deployment of static guards, mobile patrols, observation posts, and Quick Reaction Force (QRF) units as required to maintain security posture.
• Maintain situational awareness across assigned sectors, responding to reported incidents, disturbances, or threats, and initiating appropriate escalation protocols.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for guards during assigned shifts, providing direction, resolving operational issues, and liaising with the SOC and senior security staff as needed.
• Conduct guard briefings, roll calls, and shift handovers to ensure continuity of information and consistent understanding of duties, threat levels, and standing orders.
• Review and validate guard logbooks, incident reports, and post checklists, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete documentation in accordance with operational standards.
• Monitor the use and readiness of radios, communications equipment, CCTV feeds, and other security systems relevant to the guard force s duties.
• Enforce adherence to site SOPs, code of conduct, and uniform/appearance standards across the guard force, taking corrective action when necessary.
• Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and performance feedback to guard personnel, supporting ongoing professional development and readiness.
• Coordinate with the SOC, base security leadership, and emergency response teams to facilitate rapid and effective incident resolution.
• Conduct post inspections and spot checks to verify alertness, compliance, and operational effectiveness at all guard posts.
• Ensure all assigned personnel are physically fit for duty and appropriately briefed on current threat intelligence, security alerts, or changes in operational posture.
