Your role within the team:

Reporting to the team leader, the post holder will participate within a multidisciplinary team in carrying out various environmental studies (biophysical characterization, authorizations and permits, work supervision) and environmental and social impact studies in the mining, industrial, energy, infrastructure and maritime sectors.

• The geographer or technologist specializing in geomatics (thematic cartography, database management, computer graphics, remote sensing, etc.) carries out work relating to the creation of maps, graphs and tables.

• He designs and updates various plans, maps, databases.

• It performs spatial analyses from extraction queries of different data and maps the results.

• He provides technical support to other members of the geomatics team, acts as a resource person for project teams and responds to internal and external requests for information.

• He works in close collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams (environmental specialists and engineers).

The Geographer specializing in cartography or Cartography Technologist is sought:

• Possess a university degree in geography with a specialization in geomatics (cartography) or a college diploma (DEC) in geomatics (cartography) or any other combination of training and experience deemed equivalent.

• Have 8 years of experience or more in the field of geomatics applied to the environment, particularly impact studies.

• Expertise in tld protection (an asset).

• Very good knowledge of ArcGIS software and its main extensions (3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS Pro, etc.), as well as the principles of paper mapping and web mapping.

• Knowledge of different sources of data (governmental and others) relating to the environment.

• Knowledge and expertise in computer graphics (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. (an asset).

• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MapInfo, Excel, Word software.

• Knowledge of Hydro-Québec thematic mapping standards (an asset).

• Basic knowledge of programming (python) would be an asset.

• Be motivated, have good analytical skills and be able to solve problems.

• Possess good interpersonal communication skills.

• Be able to manage several projects simultaneously, with various clients and various work teams.
