Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Collect and curate multi-source data required to train an AI model in analysis and foresight; code the AI to generate outputs tailored to polycentric crisis dynamics in the Arab States.
2. Train an AI model to identify cross-boundary, cross-pillar issues, on the polycentric crisis model, and adjust preliminary results. Develop regional foresight scenarios mapping ripple effects and cross-border interdependencies.
3. Generate futures intelligence to support cross-pillar collaboration across humanitarian, development, and peace domains.
4. Operationalize foresight as a leadership capability embedded into RC retreats, regional meetings, and interagency scenario exercises.
5. Transition the UN in Arab States from a passive consumer of foresight to an active convener and producer of strategic intelligence.
6. Strengthen partnerships with regional foresight actors, GCC platforms, IFIs, and think tanks to co-design foresight dialogues and scenario platforms on trade, climate, peace, and resilience.
7. Leverage internal UN assets (UNDP Strategy and Futures Team, CPD Foresight Toolkit, Future Trends and Signals System, PPB AI Lab) to align and scale foresight capacity across the system.
8. Produce actionable reports with methodologies, lessons, and recommendations for institutionalizing foresight in the RC system.
Desired Candidate Profile
A Master s or equivalent degree in computer science, mathematics, data science, engineering, statistics or related area is required. A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more of the following areas: foresight, strategic analysis, scenario planning, or AI-driven data analytics, is required. Experience in developing or applying AI models, predictive analytics, or data-driven decision support is desirable
