Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
1-Under the supervision of the Duty Shift Supervisor Flight Dispatch, the preparation of computer flight plans and Flight Crew Briefing materials for the flights assigned to him/her whilst on duty. In particular:
(a) Analyze meteorological data pertinent to each flight to determine and select the most suitable and economical route from origin to destination and to determine and select the most suitable and economical enroute and destination alternate airports.
(b) Analyze NOTAM data pertinent to each flight to determine and select the most suitable and economical route from origin to destination and to determine and select the most suitable and economical enroute and destination alternate airports.
(c) Calculate take-off weight, associated V speeds, take-off flex thrust and landing weight from the Flight Crew Operating Manuals supplied by the aircraft manufacturer, or from the Regulated Take Off Weight charts or other utilities available having due regard for the structural and operational limitations of the airframe, current and forecast environmental conditions and existing and available airport facilities.
(d) Correct application of MEL/CDL penalties associated with aircraft Technical Defects and where this adversely affects payload, or in any way restricts the operation of an aircraft, notification to concerned parties.
(e) Optimizing the uplift of payload, having due regard to structural and operational limitations affecting the flight, and legal requirements for the carriage of fuel, nomination of alternates etc.
(f) Recommend and/or plan the tinkering of fuel where economical to do so, without compromising the uplift of payload.
(g) Advise preliminary fuel requirements to BAS for flights departing Bahrain.
(h) Notify Air Traffic Service units for movement messages in respect of Gulf Air flights ie: plans, changes, delays and cancellations. (except where this function is explicitly performed by Ground Handling Agents at selected Outstations).
2-Monitor weather data and the status of the Air Traffic Services environment (via NOTAM traffic) across the Gulf Air network frequently and advise the Duty Shift Supervisor of operationally significant changes pertinent to their flights and providing such data as may be requested/required by Flight Crew to assist them evaluate options.
3-Monitor all communications circuits, (namely: HF and VHF radio, ACARs, telephone, fax, emails, AFTN, SITA, and RIO), responding as appropriate to requests and/or the changing circumstances of individual aircraft and flights.
4-Maintain, in accordance with Company policy, all records required by the Company in an orderly and neat fashion including the daily log of events.
5-Assist with the maintenance of Flight Dispatch dept. manuals.
6-Assist with the provision of on-the-job training for new staff when required.
7-Perform other duties as directed by Shift Supervisor.
Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor s degree in technical or aviation discipline.

Preferred have completed a course of instruction in the dispatching of aircraft at an approved institution.

Preferred to held FAA, or equivalent standard, Flight Dispatcher license.
