Roles & Responsibilities

The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Field Service Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be executing remote and on-site service activities for protection systems and RTU systems within transmission and distribution substations and power stations, aligning with customer requirements. You will be ensuring the delivery of timely and cost-effective solutions while adhering to established processes, procedures, and safety guidelines.

How you ll make an impact

  • Conducting relay testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting at client substations.
  • Possessing a solid understanding of structured programming, communication techniques, and protocols specific to Hitachi relays, with familiarity in other relay manufacturers being advantageous.
  • Effectively troubleshooting system protection issues and schemes.
  • Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of various protection and communication schemes.
  • Possessing hands-on experience with Hitachi relays (including RED, REB, REF, REC, RET, etc.) and RTUs.
  • Supervising the installation and commissioning of automation systems, ensuring adherence to established standards and best practices.
  • Exhibiting expertise in testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection systems for all equipment within substations operating at voltage levels up to 400 kV.
  • Having experience in testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection systems for all equipment in power stations and refinery environments.
  • Training site operators in operational procedures and ensure that site-specific manuals and documentation are prepared prior to handover.
  • Engaging with clients or their representatives to ascertain their needs and priorities.
  • Providing comprehensive written procedures for switching, energization, and isolation methods pertinent to testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the work of substation technicians and electricians, assigning tasks as appropriate.
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with employees, clients, and suppliers.
  • Possessing experience in troubleshooting electrical components across various types of switchgear.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Desired Candidate Profile

A bachelor s degree in electrical or communication engineering.

  • Exhibiting proficiency in utilizing testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Skilled in interpreting and working with electrical drawings and schematics. Displays strong organizational and time management abilities. Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing learning.
  • Conducts remote and/or on-site service activities for protection systems and RTU systems in transmission and distribution substations, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
  • Delivers timely and cost-effective solutions in accordance with established processes, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English is required.
