Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Environmental Management, Solid Waste Management, Air Pollution control and monitoring, and most importantly is responsible for training undergraduate students laboratory sessions in water and wastewater treatment and/or other subjects related to Environmental Engineering. The courses taught are based on the applicant s expertise and background.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Teaching a certain number of courses in environmental engineering
- Conducting routine and advanced water and wastewater analyses
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Preparing reports and maintaining accurate laboratory records
- Assess students' performance, grading quizzes, reports, and projects
- Providing constructive feedback to students on their lab work and performance, ensuring continuous improvement
- Maintain the Moodle course page and prepare course files
- Update lab course material, experiments, and exam questions
- Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Preparing and setting up laboratory experiments in fluid mechanics, including calibration and maintenance of apparatus
- Assisting faculty members in conducting undergraduate laboratory sessions
Desired Candidate Profile
The candidate must hold a Master s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field and have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant laboratory and teaching experience, and a record of research publication in reputable journals. Candidates affiliated with internationally well-known organizations will be on top for hiring consideration.
The following qualifications and skills will be given the priority:
Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with:
- Gas chromatography (GC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- AMPTS-III (Automatic Methane Potential Test System)
- Fermentation and anaerobic digestion processes
- Coagulation flocculation processes
- Nitrification, denitrification processes
- BOD, COD, VFA, TS, VS, TSS, VSS, TN, TP, and other measurements
- Microbiological analysis techniques (e.g., pyrosequencing technique, real-time PCR, etc.)
- Water quality testing (pH, turbidity, conductivity, hardness, alkalinity, titration, etc.)
Strong understanding of environmental laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality assurance practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
Good Communication Skills.
