Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Estimator/Planner

The Estimator/ Planner performs estimating duties in specialty construction and Prepare projects for commercial, industrial, and government entities. The Estimator/Planner is responsible for overall development of cost estimates including, but not limited to, project management, engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, installation, testing, commissioning, training, warranty, and project close out support activities. This position tracks and manages projects transaction compliance such as margins, deliverable, and invoicing. Effectively presents information to production, upper management and customers when applicable. Responsibilities include negotiation, organizing, preparing cost reports, and submission of proposals.

Organize complex bid efforts with little to no supervision including reviewing customer specification and drawing packages to support overall estimate plans.

Competently reviews highly complex specifications and drawings in order to formulate itemized work descriptions

Review the drawings/scope of work and formulate the quantum of work.

Competent in all craft disciplines for estimating labor for production, as well as engineering, and support departments.

Develops subcontract and major material solicitations & coordinates with Engineering and Contracts departments for technical and commercial evaluations

Identify the detailed material requirement and obtain competitive prices.

Prepare estimation/project & Marine project summary for management review.

Reviews technical data packages of engineering designs, including models, drawings, and technical and product specifications to determine material requirements in support of repair, fabrication, and/or modernization projects.

Considers all specified references including applicable Standard Items in the formulation of estimates.

Responsible for material and/or labor cost analyses and estimations for proposal efforts.

Estimates or determines material costs via vendors or other references.

Reviews material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.

Estimates the labor requirements by trade based on engineering designs and product specifications to determine material requirements in support of repair, fabrication, and/or modernization projects.

Provides estimates in the format required by the contract s manager.

Builds bill of materials (BOM).

Receives and controls government drawing

Experience:

Must have working knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision products from technical specifications, blueprints, drawings, and models to extract material requirements.

Estimating: 3 years

Strong leadership and customer service skills
Time management skills
Ability to communicate clearly and thoroughly
Problem solving/analysis

Training & Experience:

Primavera
Proficient with MS Office and various office tools
AutoCAD
Microsoft Project
