Roles & Responsibilities

Job Title

Mechanical Estimator – Utilities Infrastructure (STP & Pump Stations)

Department : Tendering / Estimation

Reports To: Tendering Manager / Estimation Manager

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Desired Candidate Profile

Job Purpose

To prepare accurate and competitive mechanical cost estimates for utilities infrastructure projects, including Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), pumping stations, irrigation networks, and associated utilities, ensuring compliance with tender requirements, specifications, and local authority standards.

Key Responsibilities

� Tender & Estimation

  • Study IFB, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and scope of works for utilities projects.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for:
  • STP (package & conventional)
  • Sewage & stormwater pump stations
  • Potable water & irrigation networks
  • Rising mains, DI/HDPE/GRP piping systems
  • Perform quantity take-off for mechanical works:
  • Pumps, blowers, mixers, screens
  • Piping, valves, fittings, chambers
  • Mechanical equipment & accessories
  • Develop cost build-ups including:
  • Materials
  • Equipment
  • Installation labor
  • Testing & commissioning
  • Subcontract works
  • Review BOQ vs drawings discrepancies and prepare clarifications.

Vendor & Subcontractor Management

Identify, evaluate, and liaise with approved mechanical suppliers and subcontractors.

Prepare and issue RFQs for:

Pumps, electro-mechanical equipment

Packaged STPs

Mechanical installation subcontractors

Conduct technical and commercial comparison of quotations.

Recommend cost-effective and compliant alternatives (value engineering).

Technical Coordination

Coordinate with civil, electrical, and process disciplines during tender stage.

Ensure compliance with:

ADSSC / DMT / ADM / ADDC standards

Project specifications and international codes (BS, ASTM, ISO)

Qualifications & Experience Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience : 5–10 years’ experience in mechanical estimation

Minimum 3–5 years in utilities infrastructure / STP / pump stations

UAE/GCC experience mandatory

Technical Competencies

Strong knowledge of:

  • STP processes & mechanical equipment
  • Pump station systems
  • DI, HDPE, GRP piping
  • Valves, chambers, and fittings
  • Understanding of local authority requirements

  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work under tight tender deadlines
  • Team player with good coordination skills
  • Clear communication and reporting
  • Experience with Design & Build (D&B) utilities projects
