Roles & Responsibilities
Job Description: ERP Project Manager (Dynamics 365 Business Central)
Reports To: Managing Director
Role Summary:
Seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the end-to-end implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between our construction operations and the technical requirements of the ERP system. You will act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders (Finance, Project Managers, Estimators) and the external implementation partner.
Your goal is not just to install software, but to drive digital transformation that improves how we handle Project Accounting, Job Costing, and Supply Chain Management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Leadership & Governance:
Lead the full lifecycle of the Business Central implementation (Discovery, Design, Development, UAT, Deployment, and Go-Live).
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior leadership.
Manage the project budget, timeline, and resource allocation, ensuring milestones are met.
Manage the relationship with the external Microsoft Value Added Reseller (VAR) or implementation partner.
2. Functional Alignment (Construction Focus):
Ensure the ERP configuration supports critical construction workflows: Job Costing, WIP (Work in Progress) reporting, AIA Billing, Retainage, and Subcontractor Management.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications for the technical team.
Identify gaps between standard Business Central functionality and company needs, advising on when to customize vs. when to adapt internal processes.
3. Change Management & Adoption:
Develop a change management strategy to minimize resistance from field staff and back-office teams.
Oversee the creation of training materials and user guides specific to our workflows.
Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the system handles real-world construction scenarios before Go-Live.
4. Data Migration & Integration
Oversee the cleaning and migration of legacy data (Vendors, Customers, Historical Job Data).
Manage integrations with third-party construction tools (e.g., Procore, HeavyJob, Timberline, or estimating software).
Qualifications & Requirements:
Essential Skills:
ERP Experience: 5+ years of experience managing ERP implementations, specifically with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or its predecessor, Dynamics NAV).
Industry Experience: Proven experience in the Construction, and Engineering, sectors. You must understand Project Accounting.
Project Management: PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification is highly desirable.
Technical Understanding: Familiarity with the Microsoft Stack (Power BI, Power Automate) to create workflows and dashboards.
