Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on environmental KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare periodic environmental reports for internal management, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the focal point for communication with government entities (e.g. OPAZ, Environment Authority) and Freezone tenants on environmental issues.

Audits and Site Visits:

  • Conduct routine site inspections and audits within the Freezone to assess compliance with environmental regulations and policies.
  • Document findings, prepare audit reports, and follow up on corrective action plans with tenants and internal departments.
  • Support external audits and inspections carried out by regulatory bodies or certification authorities.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Review, update, and develop environmental management policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures in alignment with regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Ensure integration of environmental considerations into Freezone project development, construction, and operational processes.
  • Contribute to sustainability and net-zero initiatives by aligning policies with national and international commitments.

Emergency & Incident Management:

  • Act as the environmental focal point during incidents such as chemical spills, waste discharges, or air quality exceedances.
  • Develop and maintain environmental emergency response procedures in coordination with HSSE.
  • Conduct drills and ensure readiness of tenants and internal teams to manage environmental emergencies.

Ad-hoc Requests:

  • Provide subject-matter expertise on environmental issues for new projects, expansions, and investments or tenants specific needs,
  • Support crisis or incident management related to environmental matters (e.g., spills, emissions exceedances).
  • Respond to inquiries from management, tenants, or regulators requiring environmental assessments, advice, or approvals.
  • Perform additional duties in line with the current role, as and when requested by line manager.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field or any related specialization. Relevant HSE professional certifications.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
