Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
This position will provide specialist technical electrical training across the HME, UG, and Engineering Maintenance sections as part of the SGM Central Maintenance Training team.
The main objective of this role is to improve safety, efficiency, and competency in maintenance processes, enhance employee skill sets, and ultimately increase equipment availability while reducing MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).
- Develop training packages including training materials, assessment tools, and training aids.
- Perform skill gap analysis to identify development needs.
- Develop and maintain training needs analysis for maintenance employees.
- Deliver competency-based training programs in line with training plans and schedules.
- Provide assessments, coaching, and mentoring to maintenance teams in the fixed plant, specifically covering:
- Electrical distribution systems
- Motors and drives
- Control panels and switchgear
- PLCs and automation systems
- Provide on-the-job coaching at appropriate times.
- Deliver in-field support and mentoring as required for the Applied Technical School program and planned vocational training initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of experience in engineering, technical training, or a related field within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Proven ability to design and deliver effective technical training programs.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, equipment, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess training needs and tailor programs to diverse learning styles.
- Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
- Commitment to promoting safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
