Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Electrical Network Technician in the water sector is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment related to water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks. The technician ensures uninterrupted power supply and proper functioning of electrical networks that support water operations.
Desired Candidate Profile
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance for electrical panels, motors, control systems, and distribution boards.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new electrical systems in water facilities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs for all equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and electrical codes.
- Monitor the performance of electrical systems and report abnormalities to the supervisor.
- Assist in energy optimization and recommend improvements to electrical efficiency.
- Coordinate with other technical teams (mechanical, instrumentation) for integrated operations.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or power issues within the water network.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in the water or utilities sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including motors, drives, PLCs, and control circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness to work in shifts and in outdoor environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with SCADA systems in water networks.
- Certification in electrical safety or equivalent.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
