Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and troubleshoot electrical systems within the rolling mill, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime to maintain production targets.
  • Oversee and maintain the electrical systems of the rolling mill, including power distribution, motor control centers, and automation systems to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues, utilizing diagnostic tools and technical expertise to identify and rectify faults in a timely manner, minimizing production disruptions.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of electrical failures, identifying underlying issues and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Evaluate and recommend new electrical technologies and equipment to improve the rolling mill's performance and reduce operational costs.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and maintain electrical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and maintenance teams to coordinate electrical work with other mill activities, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
  • Develop and implement electrical upgrades and modifications to improve the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the rolling mill's electrical infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, conducting regular inspections, testing, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and longevity of critical components.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, drives, control systems, and power distribution, to prevent failures.
  • Analyze electrical faults and implement effective solutions, often under pressure, to restore operations swiftly and safely.
  • Develop and implement electrical safety procedures and training programs to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Design and modify electrical schematics and control systems for upgrades and new installations within the rolling mill.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and production teams to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
  • Manage and coordinate electrical projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor management.
  • Stay current with industry advancements and new technologies, particularly in automation and control systems, to improve performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is mandatory.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, specifically within a rolling mill or steel mill environment.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical faults using various testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in a demanding environment and be available for occasional on-call duties.
  • Holds relevant professional certifications, such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Demonstrates 5+ years of experience in an electrical engineering role, preferably within a rolling mill or steel manufacturing environment.
  • Exhibits strong knowledge of electrical power distribution, motor control, and industrial automation systems.
  • Proficient in using electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN) and simulation tools.
  • Displays excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical issues.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Exhibits strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates fluency in English.
