Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a proactive and experienced EHS Manager to lead the Environment, Health, and Safety strategy for a large-scale renewable energy project in Samarkand. The ideal candidate will ensure full compliance with local and international EHS standards while fostering a culture of safety and sustainability across all project phases—from construction to commissioning and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to Uzbekistan’s environmental and labor safety laws, as well as international standards (e.g., IFC, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Coordinate with local authorities and international stakeholders for permits, audits, and inspections.
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, emergency response procedures, and hazard control programs.
- Conduct regular safety drills, toolbox talks, and training sessions for contractors and staff.
- Monitor environmental impact including emissions, waste, water usage, and biodiversity protection.
- Lead implementation of mitigation measures outlined in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions.
- Lead root cause analysis and ensure timely resolution of safety issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and community relations teams to align EHS goals.
- Support community health and safety initiatives in coordination with local partners.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of EHS experience, with at least 3 years in renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Central Asian regulatory frameworks and international EHS standards.
- NEBOSH, CSP, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Fluency in English; Russian or Uzbek language skills are a strong asset.
- Experience working in multicultural, remote project environments.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in EHS software and reporting tools.
