Roles & Responsibilities

Role Summary

The SAP Business Analyst / Product Owner will be responsible for owning, structuring, and managing all business requirements, user stories, and SAP use cases related to factory and manufacturing operations.
This role acts as the bridge between production, supply chain, finance, and IT, ensuring SAP fully supports real manufacturing workflows and drives measurable efficiency improvements.

The ideal candidate has hands-on SAP experience in a manufacturing environment, understands shop-floor reality, and can translate business processes into clear SAP functional designs and user stories.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Business Requirements & Product Ownership

  • Own and manage SAP-related user stories, use cases, and functional requirements for manufacturing operations.
  • Collect and analyze requirements from production, planning, procurement, supply chain, warehouse, quality, and finance.
  • Translate business needs into clear SAP functional specifications, workflows, and process maps.
  • Perform gap analysis between current processes and SAP capabilities; propose practical solutions aligned with factory reality.
  • Act as Product Owner for SAP-related enhancements and change requests.

2. SAP Configuration & Functional Support

  • Support and configure SAP modules related to manufacturing:
    • MM (Materials Management)
    • PP (Production Planning)
    • SD (Sales & Distribution)
    • FI/CO (Finance & Controlling)
  • Provide Level 1 & Level 2 support, ensuring minimal downtime for production operations.
  • Coordinate enhancements, fixes, and upgrades with:
    • Internal IT team
    • External SAP consultants / implementation partners
  • Lead and support:
    • Unit testing
    • Integration testing
    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

3. Digital Transformation & Automation

  • Drive digital transformation initiatives within manufacturing and supply chain processes.
  • Identify automation opportunities across:
    • Production planning
    • Inventory management
    • Costing
    • Reporting and analytics
  • Support integration of SAP with:
    • BI dashboards
    • MES / production systems
    • Digital tools and reporting platforms
  • Promote data-driven decision-making across factory operations.

4. Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Analyze existing manufacturing workflows and recommend SAP-based optimizations.
  • Improve efficiency across:
    • Production planning & scheduling
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Logistics & warehouse flows
    • Costing and variance analysis
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives using SAP functionality.

5. Documentation & Training

  • Create and maintain:
    • SOPs
    • Process flow diagrams
    • Functional specifications
    • User stories and acceptance criteria
  • Prepare and deliver end-user training for SAP modules and new digital tools.
  • Maintain documentation for:
    • System changes
    • Enhancements
    • Known issues and resolutions

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
    • Production & Planning
    • Procurement
    • Finance
    • Warehouse & Logistics
    • Quality & HR
  • Act as a central SAP point of contact for business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external vendors on system upgrades and digital initiatives.

  1. User Stories & Requirements Quality
    • % of SAP user stories delivered without rework
    • Stakeholder satisfaction score (manufacturing & finance teams)
  2. Delivery & Timeliness
    • On-time delivery of SAP enhancements and change requests
    • UAT success rate on first pass
  3. Manufacturing Process Efficiency
    • Reduction in manual workarounds outside SAP
    • Improvement in production planning accuracy and inventory visibility
  4. System Stability & Support
    • Number of recurring SAP issues
    • Average resolution time for Level 1 & Level 2 issues
  5. Digital Transformation Impact
    • Number of automated or digitized processes implemented
    • Adoption rate of new SAP functionalities and tools
  6. Documentation & Training
    • Completion and accuracy of SOPs and functional documentation
    • End-user training completion rate

Desired Candidate Profile


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • IT
    • Computer Science
    • Engineering
    • Business
    • or a related field

Experience

  • 3–5 years of SAP experience in a manufacturing environment (mandatory)
  • Strong functional knowledge of:
    • SAP MM, PP, SD, FI/CO
  • Solid understanding of SAP S/4HANA and module interdependencies
  • Proven experience contributing to or leading digital transformation initiatives
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
