Roles & Responsibilities

Summary

The Destructive Testing Engineer Lab is responsible for conducting and analyzing destructive tests on carbon steel pipes to ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, including ISO/IEC 17025:2017, EIAC standards, and API Q1 (Tenth Edition). The role requires close coordination with production and quality control teams to assess material properties, identify defects, maintain accurate records, and ensure adherence to testing protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform destructive testing on carbon steel pipes, including tensile, impact, bend, hardness, and other relevant tests.
  • Interpret test results to determine compliance with customer specifications, applicable codes, and standards.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed testing records and reports for internal and external audits.
  • Work collaboratively with production and QC teams to address non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure laboratory operations meet EIAC accreditation and API Q1 quality requirements.
  • Assist in developing and updating lab testing procedures to align with industry best practices.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment in compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in destructive testing, preferably within a pipe manufacturing or heavy fabrication industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, EIAC standards, and API Q1 requirements.
  • Proficiency in using mechanical testing equipment and interpreting results.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good communication and report-writing skills in English.
