The Data Governance & Modeling Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining logical and physical data models that support the organization s data warehouse and lakehouse environments. This hands-on role ensures that data structures are optimized for performance, scalability, and usability, enabling reliable analytics and reporting.

This pivotal role is critical for the success of the project, requiring an individual contributor capable of delivering high-quality work while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Data Modeling & Design

• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for warehouse and lakehouse platforms.
• Define and maintain dimensional models (star schema, snowflake schema) and normalized structures.
• Ensure models support both batch and real-time data processing needs.
• Collaboration
• Work closely with the Senior ETL Architect to align data models with ETL pipelines.
• Partner with business analysts to translate requirements into robust data structures.
• Collaborate with QA-focused Data Engineers to validate data integrity and consistency.

Governance & Standards

• Establish and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies.
• Maintain metadata repositories and data dictionaries.

Optimization & Maintenance

• Optimize models for query performance and scalability.
• Monitor and refine data structures as business needs evolve.
• Support schema evolution and version control in the lakehouse environment.

• Strong expertise in data modeling techniques (dimensional, relational, hierarchical, schema-on-read, Medallion architecture).
• Hands-on experience with data warehouse and lakehouse platforms.
• Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Datahub, Collibra).
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with big data frameworks (Apache Spark, Hadoop).
• Experience with data modeling tools (Erwin, PowerDesigner, or similar).
• Solid understanding of ETL processes and their interaction with data models.
• 7+ years of experience in data modeling, including at least 3 years in a senior or architect-level role.
• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
