Job Description

The role of a Data Center Technician is integral to the smooth operation and maintenance of data center facilities. These technicians handle the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a data center's technical infrastructure which includes servers, network systems, hardware, and software. They are essential in ensuring that data centers operate at peak performance, maintaining consistent uptime, security, and reliability. A Data Center Technician works collaboratively with IT staff to support new technology initiatives and solve complex technical problems. Their efforts are critical in supporting the high availability demands of data centers, which are essential to most modern businesses and organizations across various industries.


Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and ensure optimal performance of data center servers and equipment.
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting and support for network equipment failures or malfunctions.
  • Monitor data center environments, ensuring climate and energy efficiency standards meet regulations.
  • Respond promptly to alerts and outages, providing emergency service support during incidents.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and detailed documentation for all data center resources and assets.
  • Implement security policies and measures to protect sensitive information within data centers.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to optimize network infrastructure for improved performance.
  • Conduct regular repairs and maintenance on data nodes, storage systems, and critical components.
  • Support and facilitate the deployment of new data center technology and updates.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of disaster recovery and backup initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous learning to stay informed on the latest technologies and best practices.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years' experience working in a data center or similar environment.
  • Proficient understanding of network protocols and data center operations and management.
  • Experience with server hardware, including diagnostics and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of data center power, cooling, and environmental management practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members and vendors.
