Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and presenting detailed budget estimates utilizing benchmarked data, ensuring adherence to value engineering principles and risk management best practices.
  • Establishing and updating a comprehensive benchmarking database to track costs and performance metrics at both regional and international levels.
  • Facilitating and contributing to Value Engineering workshops, identifying and recommending economic solutions that align with project goals.
  • Attending and contributing to cost meetings, providing expert advice on construction costs and related commercial issues to stakeholders.
  • Conducting regular site visits to assess project conditions, monitor progress, and provide actionable recommendations based on site characteristics.
  • Reviewing project designs and initiating timely cost planning processes, ensuring alignment with project scope and budget.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives by applying cost engineering techniques to identify inefficiencies and implement cost optimization measures.
  • Monitoring and analyzing economic trends, assessing their impact on project costs and identifying associated risks.
  • Ensuring the application of standardized and professional cost engineering management processes and practices across all projects.
  • Collaborating with project teams to develop accurate forecasts of project costs, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • Reviewing and assessing Change Notices and Claims, providing recommendations and evaluations to support effective cost management.
  • Defining and gathering essential cost-related information from contractors and suppliers for all contracts within the project program.
  • Verifying contractor payment applications and invoices, assisting in their submission for financial control and approval.
  • Monitoring and reporting on cash flow forecasts in alignment with project schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal customers, management, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the integrity of cost and estimation processes.

Desired Candidate Profile

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 10 years of work experience partnered with a Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.

Other selection criteria:

  • Strong background in cost management and estimation within the construction sector.
  • Membership with a recognized professional management institution is preferred.
  • Proven experience in estimating multi-project programs in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of market costs related to labour, plant, and materials in the UAE; international experience is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced skills in MS Project.
