Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize, design, and deliver control systems solutions for complex power projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Conduct detailed analyses of power systems and associated control systems, identifying opportunities for optimization, stability enhancement, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement advanced control algorithms, including model-based and adaptive control techniques, to enhance the performance and reliability of power systems.
- Undertake system integration tasks, interfacing control systems with various hardware and software components, such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and remote monitoring solutions.
- Perform simulation and testing of control strategies using industry-standard software tools, verifying system performance under various operating conditions and disturbances.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and regulations within the power systems and control systems engineering fields, contributing to the continuous improvement of GHD's technical capabilities.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and proposals, effectively communicating complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing control systems for power generation, transmission and distribution projects.
- Strong proficiency in control system design, simulation, and optimization using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar software.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to power systems and control systems engineering (e.g., IEC 61850, IEEE standards).
- Experience with programming languages commonly used in control systems such as C/C++, Python, or PLC programming languages.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges related to power systems and control systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical concepts to various stakeholders.
