Roles & Responsibilities
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Radiologist to join the Radiology Department at Counties District. The role involves providing high-quality radiological services to patients, supporting multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to continuous quality improvement, education, and innovation in radiology practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert interpretation and opinion on radiological images, ensuring compliance with RANZCR and IANZ standards.
- Perform radiological procedures within scope of practice, ensuring informed consent and optimal patient care.
- Participate in on-call rosters (General Radiology, Interventional, MRI as appropriate).
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and referrers, expediting treatment decisions when necessary.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings, clinico-radiological conferences, and Radiology business meetings.
- Maintain professional registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and comply with the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act.
- Engage in ongoing CPD, case review, audit, and quality assurance programmes.
- Supervise and teach registrars and other medical staff; contribute to registrar courses and education sessions.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and promote appropriate use of imaging.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and uphold the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- Use clinical IT systems effectively and participate in digital transformation initiatives.
Requirements
Education & Registration
- MBBS, MBChB, MD or equivalent medical qualification.
- Provisional or vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology.
- Fellowship in Radiology (FRANZCR, FRCR, FRCRI or equivalent).
Experience
- Broad experience in radiology reporting and procedures.
- Previous work within a multidisciplinary team in a medium to large hospital.
- General radiology reporting experience.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Familiarity with Medical Council and RANZCR Codes of Ethics.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving ability with attention to detail and adaptability.
