Job Description

A Consultant Ophthalmologist is a specialist medical professional dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye disorders and diseases. As a leader in the field of ophthalmology, you will conduct comprehensive examinations, perform various surgical procedures, and provide high-quality care to patients with diverse eye conditions. You will play a crucial role in the training and mentoring of junior doctors and medical staff, ensuring high standards of clinical practice. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the development of care plans and the advancement of ophthalmology services within the hospital or clinic setting. Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations to accurately diagnose eye disorders and diseases.
  • Conduct various ophthalmic surgeries, including but not limited to cataract and glaucoma procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs and conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
  • Provide expert consultations and second opinions on complex ophthalmological cases.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, offering guidance and educational support.
  • Participate in research activities to advance the field of ophthalmology and improve patient outcomes.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to keep up with industry advancements.
  • Deliver educational sessions and presentations to medical staff and peers.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of patient diagnoses and treatments undertaken.
  • Advise hospital management on the procurement of latest ophthalmological equipment and tools.
  • Ensure all practices comply with relevant health and safety standards and regulations.

Requirements
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical institution with specialization in Ophthalmology.
  • Board certification in ophthalmology and state medical license is compulsory.
  • Minimum of five years' experience working as a consultant ophthalmologist is preferred.
  • Demonstrable expertise in performing a range of eye surgeries and procedures.
  • Strong ability to manage complex cases and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and staff.
  • Adept at using the latest ophthalmology software and diagnostic equipment.
