Composite technician

Your job is to manufacture composite parts for boats, large drones, aerospace parts, and automotive parts.

Experience

1. 3 years experience in composites manufacturing proccess in wet lamination and/or pre-preg, including carbon fibre and fibreglass.
2. Working level of English.

Duties:

1. Ensure that the work station and tools are clean, in proper state before stating the production.
2. Cut fabrics according to templates and are prepare/ organised for the each specific job.
3. Prepare the molds before production. Wax according to best practices, setup on tables.
4. Paint with 2K enamels or gel-coats prior to laminating. Ensure thin spray for minimal weight.
5. Prepare resin according to the proper standards and specifications, and ensure the mix ratio is correct. Verify that the pot lifes are being respected and that no large quantity of resin is left unattended in the pots.
6. Prepare the vacuum process or infusion process (including dry fabric spray, tack-on according to specific patterns/ drawings).
7. Wet laminate fabrics/ sandwiches or lay down pre-pregs or process resin infusion (including infusion injector machine operation).
8. Transfer the parts to the ovens, verify temperatures and curing schedules.
9. Fabricate plugs from supplied CNC machined foam blocks.
10. Fabricate molds from supplied plugs.
11. Carve details in plugs according to drawing (part numbers, end of part lines, control lines and other details).

Quality process duties:

1. Ensure that the production of part is efficient.
2. Follow the production timing required for each part and log timing follow up.
3. Consign the fabrication times and part weights in the appropriate table.
4. Verify parts tolerances and mechanical assembly clearances conforms to requirements.
5. Verify general part surface quality.
6. Logging of problems with the molds of tooling.
7. Analyze log problems and trigger on condition maintenance if required.
8. Enter record of jobs in progress into the company Intranet progress report.
9. Enter quality records into the company Intranet quality page and/ or progress report page.
10. Apply 5S principles, including but not limited to: keeping the room and tools clean at all times. Verifying that the tools and tables are back in their respective positions at the end of the day. Verifying that the fabric rolls and materials are stowed properly and in their respective location. Verifying cutters stock, cutters condition. Emptying the bins daily. Verifying that the floor is clean at the end of the day.

Production and inventory duties

1. Check raw material stock and tooling and consign inventory.
2. Issue low inventory alerts to the Composite Production Manager for raw material and tools.
3. Transfer parts produced to the stock room and advise the Composite Production Manager accordingly.
4. Reception of new stock, cutters and general tooling and transfer to stock rooms and production rooms.

Efficiency and improvement duties

1. Identify ways to improve production efficiency and advise the Composite Production Manager.
2. Identify the need for new tools to improve production efficiency and advise the Composite Production Manager.
