Roles & Responsibilities

The GGGI Qatar program is seeking talented and motivated individuals to provide support in program s communication efforts. This opportunity is ideal for those who are passionate about environmental sustainability and wish to gain hands on experience in strategic communication within an International Organization.

The assignment will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Work closely with the Communications and Advocacy Coordinator in the day-to-day implementation of the Communications activities of the Qatar Program. Participate in the strategic planning and execution of communication campaigns.
  • Support the implementation of a climate change and sustainability awareness campaign, contributing to impactful messaging and public engagement.
  • Create infographics and other visual content for online and print collaterals, enhancing the understanding and engagement of key audiences.
  • Engage in content writing and drafting various forms of communication materials such as press releases, articles, blog posts, social media content, and reports.
  • Support the dissemination of information on project progress and results through compelling messaging and visualization across various platforms.
  • Provide translation services covering English and Arabic to facilitate broader communication reach.
  • Help improve GGGI s branding and support the regular updating of GGGI Qatar s social media accounts and webpage.
  • Assist in reviewing, editing, and proofreading GGGI knowledge products, technical reports, training, and communication materials in line with GGGI guidelines.
  • Stay abreast of research and news relevant to GGGI's areas of work and synthesize key messages for colleagues and key audiences.
  • Support on GGGI MENA regional communication.

The intern will work under the dual supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Coordinator and the Program Lead. The internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, international environment, working on critical issues related to sustainable development. The intern will have the chance to develop strategic communication skills, understand the functioning of an international organization, and gain insights into the operational aspects of GGGI.

Desired Candidate Profile

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor s (final year), Master s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute s work.
  • Must possess legal right to work in Qatar. For international applicants, a valid visa permitting work or internship in the Qatar is required.
  • Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic or other regional languages is highly advantageous.
  • Applicants must be available to commit to the full duration of the internship as agreed upon with the supervising staff.

QUALIFICATION

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor s or Master s program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as the role involves translation tasks.
  • Strong ability to write and draft various forms of communication materials. Creativity and proficiency in story telling techniques is a plus.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management and content creation software. Skills in graphic design and creating visual content (e.g., infographics) are a plus.
  • Prior experience in communications, media relations, or content creation is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • A strong interest in environmental issues, sustainable development, and green growth initiatives.
