Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
On-Site Inspection and Monitoring
The primary role of a Civil Inspector is to conduct thorough site inspections and monitor daily construction activities. This involves:
- Inspecting work in progress: Verifying that the construction aligns with the approved plans and specifications.
- Checking materials: Ensuring all materials delivered to the site meet the specified quality standards and are stored correctly. This includes reviewing contractor material submittals.
- Performing tests: Conducting or overseeing civil and structural tests to confirm the quality of the work.
- Observing safety: Monitoring site safety practices and reporting any concerns to the Health & Safety Engineer.
2. Quality Assurance and Non-Conformance Management
A key responsibility is to identify and address any work that doesn't meet the required standards. The inspector must:
- Identify non-conforming works: Find any deviations from the project specifications or design.
- Document issues: Prepare detailed inspection reports and site records, documenting all findings, including photographic evidence.
- Generate corrective actions: Issue reports and coordinate responses to ensure non-conforming work is corrected in a timely manner.
3. Collaboration and Reporting
Civil Inspectors serve as a vital link between the contractor, the client, and the engineering team. They are responsible for:
- Liaising with stakeholders: Interacting with contractors, subcontractors, clients, and laboratory staff to verify project requirements and coordinate on-site activities.
- Maintaining records: Keeping meticulous records of inspections, tests, and work executed.
- Preparing reports: Compiling and submitting daily logs and detailed reports on project progress and any issues encountered to the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with 5 years of experience/ degree in Civil Engineering with 3 years of experience in water infrastructure projects.
- Candidate with local UAE site experience (6 days a week) on water projects like sewerage network, rehabilitation, stormwater, pumping stations, water transmission pipelines are preferred.
