Chief Accountant

The Chief Accountant is responsible for leading the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting management with financial insights. The role oversees the company s day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, and tax, while implementing strong internal controls and accounting policies aligned with the organization s strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Reporting & Compliance


Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/local GAAP.


Ensure compliance with all statutory and tax requirements.


Oversee external audits and act as the primary contact with auditors.


Accounting Operations


Supervise daily accounting activities including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, inventory, and fixed assets.


Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing.


Maintain proper documentation and records for all financial transactions.


Budgeting & Analysis


Support the CFO/Finance Manager in preparing budgets and forecasts.


Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and improvement opportunities.


Provide management with insights for cost control and efficiency.


Internal Controls & Policies


Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.


Safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with corporate governance.


Team Leadership


Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team.


Allocate responsibilities and ensure staff deliver accurate work on time.


Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
