Activites:

  • The Chemical Engineer would work in the Surface Technical department and would be involved in day to day operations in supporting operations management for all the chemical supply and quality management issues. Duties include but not limited to Support the Surface technical and operations department in the management of process and integrity chemicals, plus overall coordination with the chemical vendors.
  • Under general supervision, manage the chemical inventories, vendor man power and coordination with chemical vendor account managers.
  • Serve as the point-of-contact for all aspects of the chemical purchases, including; approvals, procurement system input and coordination with procurement personnel.
  • Manage and maintain a chemical inventory system that supports WQ1 objectives in production, general facility operations, environmental regulatory reporting , Asset Integrity and fire protection requirements.
  • Reviews and seek approvals for requests of chemicals.
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts (e.g., Industrial Hygiene, Environmental, Waste Management) to determine appropriate controls for chemical storage.
  • Utilizes historical chemical inventory and consumption data to minimize excess/expired chemicals to reduce waste and optimize chemical usage.
  • Conducts periodic assessments of the program to ensure compliance and to identify any deficiencies or areas of improvements ensuring full QA/QC of the chemicals.
  • Projects bulk chemical inventories for budgetary planning year on year.
  • Determines bulk chemical quantities needed to support production goals.
  • Coordinates bulk chemical deliveries to ensure production goals and schedules are met.
  • Provide support for the chemical management database.
  • Supports engineering and OR (Operation Readiness) in determining and purchasing new chemicals for process changes.
  • Track chemicals from receipt at respective facility through distribution, storage, use and disposal.
  • Ensure that inventory information is accurate in the chemical tracking database for assigned locations.
  • Ensure that chemical containers are stored safely and compliantly, facility limits are not surpassed and that established tracking systems are being utilized properly.
  • Provide reports from the chemical tracking database for operation managers and environmental, safety and health personnel.
  • Develop weekly monthly and annual reports on chemical consumption and future requirement projections.
  • Attend chemical management meetings.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in engineering, preferably Chemical with good academic background
  • Experience with Chemical management with IOC s or specialist chemical supply companies.
  • 5 years + experience in oil field
  • Willing to spend some time in the field 30-40% time in field.

Role-Specific Skills:

  • Good English speaking and writing skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with appropriate guidance,
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate critical analytical and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills including soft skills on Microsoft office, experience and Maximo preferred.
