Blood Bank Technician / Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist nurse in checking vital parameters
• Collect Blood Donor s Medical History and screen donors
• Draw blood from a donor
• Monitor donor during the donation procedure
• Screen donated blood for the presence of any infection
• Document, label, and store blood donations
• Check the compatibility of blood
• Act within the limits of one s competence and authority
• Work effectively with others
• Manage work to meet requirements
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and secure working Environment
• Practice code of conduct while performing duties
• Follow biomedical waste disposal protocols
• Follow infection control policies and procedures
• Monitor and assure quality
• Comply with laboratory, blood bank, infection prevention, and control standards.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

• Higher Diploma Degree in Medical Lab Technology or equivalent.
• Current Registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Laboratory and Blood Bank setting.

Skills and Competencies:

• This job requires the individual to work in collaboration with a medical laboratory technologist and other members of the healthcare team and deliver the healthcare services as directed. The individual should be result oriented. The individual should also be able to demonstrate clinical skills, communication skills, and ethical behavior. Individuals must always perform their duties in a calm, reassuring and efficient manner.
