Roles & Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

  • Architecture & Design: Lead the design and architecture of enterprise-grade disaster recovery solutions on Azure, leveraging services like Azure Site Recovery (ASR), Azure Backup, and Azure Blob Storage with GRS/RA-GRS.
  • Implementation & Migration: Hands-on implementation of DR plans, including the replication and failover of virtual machines (IaaS), databases (PaaS like Azure SQL), and entire applications.
  • Automation & Orchestration: Develop automated runbooks using Azure Automation, PowerShell, and ARM/Bicep templates to streamline failover and failback processes, minimizing recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
  • Testing & Validation: Plan and execute regular, structured disaster recovery drills. Document results, identify gaps, and lead remediation efforts to ensure readiness for a real-world event.
  • Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to both internal and external clients, explaining complex DR concepts in clear business terms and providing guidance on best practices.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including DR design documents, runbooks, operational procedures, and post-drill reports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest Azure services and DR methodologies, continuously evaluating and improving our DR posture for cost-optimization and enhanced resilience.

Desired Candidate Profile

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing solutions in Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven, demonstrable experience architecting and implementing disaster recovery solutions using Azure Site Recovery (ASR) and Azure Backup.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python).
  • Deep understanding of core Azure services: Compute (VMs, Scale Sets), Networking (VNet, VPN, Load Balancers), Storage (Blob, Managed Disks), and Identity (Azure AD).
  • Solid knowledge of networking concepts relevant to DR, including DNS, routing, and network security groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
