Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions in Networking, Cybersecurity & Forensics and related computing courses.
- Develop, update, and enhance course materials, assessments, and teaching resources aligned with program learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
- Provide academic advising, supervision, and support to students, ensuring an effective and inclusive learning environment.
Research & Scholarly Activities
- Conduct research, publish in reputable academic journals, and participate in scholarly conferences and workshops.
- Engage in research collaborations, grant applications, and industry-related projects within the fields of Networking, Cybersecurity and Forensics
- Supervise student research projects and contribute to the research agenda of the department.
Curriculum Development & Quality Assurance
- Participate in the development, review, and continuous improvement of curricula and academic programs in line with MOHERI instructions.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, program accreditation activities, and academic audits as required by MOHERI and the College.
- Ensure accurate documentation of grades, attendance, and academic records.
Community & Institutional Engagement
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and college-wide committees, meetings, and academic initiatives.
- Support community engagement, industry partnerships, and outreach activities relevant to Networking and Cybersecurity
- Contribute to student development activities, events, and academic advising.
Professional Conduct & Compliance
- Uphold professional and ethical standards in teaching, research, and administrative duties.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, regulations, and Omani higher education and labor requirements.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with advancements in Networking, Cybersecurity, and pedagogy.
Technical/Work-based Skills
- Proficiency with lab/simulation tools: Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3/EVE-NG, Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus/OpenVAS, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Kali Linux.
- Experience configuring network devices (Cisco/Juniper/MikroTik), firewalls (ASA/FTD, Palo Alto, Fortinet), and VPNs.
- Ability to design authentic assessments, rubrics, and capstone projects that map to learning outcomes and industry frameworks.
- Familiarity with LMS (e.g., Moodle), academic integrity tools, and accessible/technology-enhanced learning practices.
Knowledge
- Networking: OSI/TCP-IP models, IPv4/IPv6, routing and switching (STP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, trunking), wireless, QoS, VPNs, firewalls, NAC.
- Network services & platforms: DNS, DHCP, AAA/RADIUS/TACACS+, Active Directory/Azure AD, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), containers (Docker/Kubernetes) basics.
- Cybersecurity: threat modeling, cryptography, endpoint and network security, SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, penetration testing, cloud security (AWS/Azure), IAM.
- Governance, risk & compliance: ISO/IEC 27001/2, NIST CSF & 800-53/171, OWASP ASVS/Top 10, secure SDLC and DevSecOps basics.
Desired Candidate Profile
PhD / Master s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with Networking or Cybersecurity from a recognized University.
Minimum 3 years of experience recognized College/University at the Bachelor's/ master s Level.
The incumbent is expected to demonstrate strong adaptability, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to continuous learning, while also showing high cultural sensitivity and consistently acting in a proactive and responsible manner across all assigned tasks.
