Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Head of Maritime Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program as required to fulfil the Academy s strategic priorities.
- Teach a set of subjects (such as Maritime Business, Maritime & Admiralty Law, International Trade Law, Shipping Management, and Logistics Governance) as asked by the Head to the students using a suitable style while satisfying the requirements of the Academy.
- Use appropriate, innovative and effective pedagogic approach in the classroom. Deliver lectures and lead seminar groups as appropriate.
- Participate in the examination/ assessment process including the setting of papers, preparing marking schemes, agreeing marks with other staff. Use appropriate and innovative forms of assessment practices to enhance learning and teaching.
- Responsible for updating own discipline knowledge to develop research informed teaching. Bring latest research-based knowledge in the classroom.
- Ensure full compliance with the requirements of the timetable and the annual academic calendar.
- Conduct research for career development, aligning with the Academy s ambition to be research-active institution.
- Provide timely, constructive, formative and comprehensive feedback to students using all forms of communication.
- Deliver courses in other departments as required by the Line Manager.
- Contribute to program and institutional quality assurance, academic advising, and committee work.
- Be willing to travel as required and occasionally work outside of standard working hours as in the contract.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- E: PhD in Maritime Business, Shipping/ Port Management, Maritime Law, International Trade Law, or a closely related discipline.
- P: Recognised qualification for teaching in Higher Education.
- P: Industry body affiliation/ membership.
Skills
- E: Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism.
- E: Strong ability to connect theory with practice through case studies, industry simulations, and applied projects.
- E: Team player, approachable, sensitive towards all cultures.
- E: Work as and when required under pressure with the intention to complete task as promptly and efficiently as is possible.
Experience
- E: Experience of teaching in the field of maritime business, law and management.
- P: Experience of working/ familiarity with policies and practices in maritime business & operations.
- P: Familiarity with UAE and international maritime legal frameworks and trade practices.
- P: Familiarity with CAA standards, quality assurance, and accreditation requirements in the UAE.
- P: Familiarity with learning technologies (LMS, online assessment, academic integrity tools).
- P: Educational experience with leading courses/ programs, revising course content, developing new programs and courses.
