Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
-
Strategic Contribution
-
Support the Destination Fire Commander in implementing RSFRS Marine Strategy.
-
Deputize for the Destination Fire Commander when required.
-
Lead and support personnel in resolving operational emergency incidents.
-
Assume Incident Command in accordance with the RSFRS Incident Command System.
-
Identify and resolve hazards and risks through inspection and investigation.
-
Enforce Health & Safety policies and workplace discipline.
-
Prepare, monitor, and manage Opex and Capex budgets.
-
Plan and implement operational activities to meet service delivery needs.
-
Ensure operational readiness of all staff, appliances, and equipment.
-
Produce clear and timely incident and administrative reports.
-
Develop policies, procedures, guidelines, and training materials aligned with best practice.
-
Manage and deliver community safety and enforcement programs.
-
Liaise professionally with relevant services and stakeholders.
Functional/Technical
-
Supervise and coordinate marine emergency scene operations.
-
Mentor employees and support professional development.
-
Maintain compliance with operational policies and ensure apparatus readiness.
-
Participate in fire strategy meetings and annual business plan execution.
-
Translate strategy into operational business plans and monitor performance.
Policies, Processes, and Reports
-
Follow all relevant policies, processes, and SOPs to ensure consistent operations.
-
Prepare accurate and timely MIS statements and functional reports.
Safety, Quality & Environment
-
Apply safety, quality, and environmental management controls to ensure compliance, quality service delivery, and environmental responsibility.
Continuous Improvement
-
Identify opportunities for system, process, and productivity improvements aligned with international best practice.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in related field or Business Administration.
- NFPA 1021, NFPA 1005, and NFPA 1006 certifications (or equivalent).
- Proficient swimmer (50m within 90 seconds).
Experience
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a marine supervisory role.
- Experienced Incident Commander capable of Tactical (Silver) Command.
Preferred
- NFPA 1003 / NFPA 405 certifications.
- IYT Powerboat Skipper up to 24m (or equivalent).
- VHF-SRC CoC Marine Communications Course.
