Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Visa Requirements
The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.
Package
GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.
Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:
The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.
If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.
Flight Package
GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor s declared home address.
The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.
The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address. The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or such other intermediate landing location to the Consultant s accommodations at the project.
Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), copy will be provided upon acceptance.
Role Requirements
Skills & Competencies
• Proven proficiency in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of short and long-barrelled firearms.
• Strong understanding of weapon systems, components, and manufacturer specifications.
• Ability to diagnose faults and conduct effective remedial work under field and workshop conditions.
• Skilled in safe weapon handling, fault recording, and quality assurance practices.
• High attention to detail with a methodical and disciplined approach to technical tasks.
• Strong understanding of health and safety protocols, including weapon safety standards and secure storage procedures.
• Capable of maintaining accurate service records and inventory control logs.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a small, specialised team in high-pressure or operational environments.
• Effective communicator with clear written and verbal reporting skills.
Essential Requirements
• Recognised qualification in armoury, gunsmithing, or equivalent military/civilian certification.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience maintaining and repairing both short and long-barrelled weapons.
• Demonstrated experience with a range of NATO-standard weapon systems (e.g., Glock, Sig, M4, AK variants etc.).
• In-depth understanding of weapon safety, function testing, and routine servicing procedures.
• Familiarity with controlled storage, weapon issue/return logs, and ammunition accountability.
• Clean criminal record and ability to pass vetting requirements for working with firearms.
• Physically fit and capable of lifting/moving heavy equipment and working in varied environmental conditions.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Desirable
• Previous experience in an operational theatre or defence/security contract.
• Experience working with specialist or suppressed weapon systems.
• Certification or formal training from a recognised defence organisation or firearms manufacturer.
• Experience with armoured vehicle weapon mounting and integration (where applicable).
• Competency in basic welding, machining, or custom fabrication.
• Prior military or law enforcement armoury experience.
Services
Services provided by the Contractor shall be those typically expected for someone in the position of Armourer and include, but are not limited to, the inspection, maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of short and long-barrelled weapons in support of project requirements. The Contractor will ensure all weapon systems under their care are maintained to the highest standards of safety, serviceability, and accountability. Services the Contractor can expect to carry out would include:
• Conducting routine and preventative maintenance on a variety of NATO-standard short and long-barrelled weapons.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs under both workshop and operational conditions.
• Performing functionality tests and inspections to ensure weapons are serviceable and safe for use.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance logs, service records, and inventory tracking for all weapons and related equipment.
• Ensuring all weapons are cleaned, stored, and secured in line with project and international standards.
• Managing weapon issue and return procedures, including accountability documentation.
• Advising project management on weapon condition, servicing schedules, and parts requirements.
• Providing technical support to users on correct weapon handling, safety procedures, and basic maintenance.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant SOPs, safety protocols, and storage regulations.
• Assisting in the training and familiarisation of staff in relation to weapons handling and basic care.
• Supporting audits and inspections from internal or external compliance entities.
• Undertaking any other duties or responsibilities as directed by the GardaWorld Management Team in accordance with company SOPs and project needs.
