The Airport Baggage Handler plays an integral role in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of passenger luggage at an airport. This position is primarily responsible for the handling, loading, and unloading of baggage from aircraft, baggage carts, and conveyor belts. It requires physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Baggage handlers must operate various equipment and machinery, such as conveyor systems and luggage carts, to facilitate the transfer of luggage between terminals and aircraft. Working under various weather conditions and adhering to airport policies and safety regulations is a crucial part of the job. The role ensures passengers' luggage is transferred safely and securely, enhancing the overall travel experience.

• Load and unload passenger baggage from aircraft efficiently and carefully.
• Operate and maneuver baggage carts and conveyor belt systems safely.
• Ensure baggage is transferred to the correct terminals or aircraft timely.
• Verify and confirm flight details to ensure correct baggage handling procedures.
• Coordinate with ground staff to prioritize luggage loading and unloading sequences.
• Handle oversized, fragile, or special baggage following guidelines and instructions.
• Maintain accurate records of baggage counts and any transfers between flights.
• Inspect luggage for damage and report any issues to necessary personnel.
• Support conflict resolution regarding baggage claims and lost luggage incidents.
• Comply with safety regulations when handling equipment and sensitive materials.
• Assist with ramp services, including aircraft pushback and lavatory services when required.
• Conduct regular inspections of baggage handling equipment and report faults.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred for this position.
• Ability to lift heavy luggage regularly and work in a physically demanding role.
• Familiarity with airport luggage handling systems and procedures beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with team and ground staff.
• Capability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme weather.
• Must pass background checks and security clearance required by the airport.
