Responsibilities

• Oversee the recording, reconciliation, and settlement of ceded and assumed reinsurance transactions, including premiums, commissions, losses, and recoveries.
• Ensure reinsurance contracts are accurately interpreted and accounted for in compliance with company policies, IFRS/GAAP, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reinsurance financial reports; provide variance analysis and explanations for management and regulatory bodies.
• Supervise reconciliation of reinsurance accounts, statements of account, and balances with brokers and reinsurers; ensure timely settlement of receivables and payables.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes related to reinsurance; maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the accuracy and integrity of reinsurance financial data.
• Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in reinsurance accounting workflows.
• Work closely with underwriting, claims, finance, and risk teams to ensure alignment between operational activities and financial reporting.
• Ensure timely submission of reinsurance-related reports to regulators, rating agencies, and other stakeholders as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum 5 - 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in reinsurance or insurance accounting.
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance principles, contracts, and accounting treatments (IFRS 17 knowledge is an advantage).
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with reinsurance administration systems is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience supervising teams.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
