Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports.
- Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory costs, stock levels, and assist with stock reconciliations.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process payments to suppliers and ensure timely collections from customers.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets and forecasting future financial performance based on sales and expenses.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure the company complies with local tax regulations and handle tax filings.
- Cost Control: Monitor and analyze operational costs and identify areas for cost savings.
- Auditing: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Data Analysis: Provide financial insights to management to support decision-making and improve profitability.
Ensures the accountant helps maintain financial health and supports business operations effectively.
Desired Candidate Profile
1. Educational Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CA (Chartered Accountant) demonstrate strong technical proficiency and are a significant advantage.
2. Industry-Specific Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting, ideally within the FMCG sector or distribution environment, with specific expertise in inventory management, cost accounting, and logistics-related finance.
3. Technical Expertise:
Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and ERP systems is essential to streamline operations and enhance financial reporting.
Expertise in MS Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling) is necessary for robust financial analysis.
4. Regulatory Knowledge:
Strong understanding of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and local tax laws to ensure regulatory compliance and tax filings.
5. Analytical and Strategic Thinking:
Excellent analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to optimize operational efficiency and profitability. The ability to assist management with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control strategies is essential.
6. Attention to Detail:
Demonstrated precision in handling financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and transparency in reporting, auditing, and documentation.
7. Communication and Leadership Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external auditors. The candidate should also have the capacity to lead finance teams or contribute to cross-departmental projects.
8. Organizational and Time Management Skills:
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects concurrently, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
9. Integrity and Professionalism:
High ethical standards and professionalism are crucial, given the responsibility of handling sensitive financial information and maintaining trust with stakeholders.
